Invitation to impress
|
| Wedding Invitations |
Stationery, the cake, photography and the wedding video are all important items that should be on your must-do list to remember for the big day
INVITATIONS
Invitations are an important part of the stationery for your wedding, but remember you also have the table plan, the orders of service and the thank-you cards. Then there are the save-the-date cards, place cards, the designer envelopes, the menus and the acceptance cards.
Remember to include on the invitation all necessary information:
■ The name of the intended bride and groom.
■ The date and time that the proceedings commence.
■ The name of both the service and reception venue.
Other things to consider are wording the invitation and including any additional information without compromising style or design.
CAKE
You do not have to stick to the traditional plain, white-iced, three-tiered spice cake, there are also plenty of more modern options.
Cakes can vary by shape, tiers, styles and colour. Cake toppers and other decorations can also personalise your choice.
However good the cake looks, it is taste that is ultimately most important. Whether it is fruit filled, sponge, carrot or chocolate, there is a great deal of choice, with many great flavoured fillings. Decorating a cake will enhance its appearance. Consider finishing touches such as edible flowers, chocolate curls, marzipan or fresh fruit.
The price of the cake differs a great deal depending on where it is made. Whether it is made by family or friends, shop bought or made by a specialist will make a huge difference to your overall budget.
PHOTOGRAPHY
In the years following your wedding, the main thing that you’ll have are the memories, but pretty much the only tangible thing you’ll have are the photographs, so choose your photographer wisely.
Cost, ability, portfolio and style, presentation and personality are just a few of the areas that you need to consider when contemplating the photographer.
You must also consider what type of photos you want, as different photographers specialise in different styles, so bear this in mind when you start looking.
In addition to an impressive portfolio, the photographer’s appearance and personality are also extremely important.
There are plenty of other things to consider, including cost, how long the photos will take to be processed, the size of the photos and presentation options, so make sure you research everything well.
VIDEO
Wedding videography is increasingly popular and the end product is often a lavish, well-edited and professional product, so think hard about whether this is something you’ll want to keep.
Cost varies greatly between different suppliers, so make sure you don’t just choose the first one you see. Find out exactly what you’ll be getting for your money. Consider style, equipment and hidden extras, as every videographer will work by different standards.
Sign a contract – contracts are a matter of formality and could save a lot of hassle in the long run. And only when you are happy that all the details are correct should you sign on the dotted line.
